The One & Done Tote Pattern PAT-1012 by Beasy Peasy Patterns

Some bags fight you. This one doesn't.

The One & Done Tote is built from a single quilted panel that folds over on itself, so the bag and its lining are the same piece of fabric. There's no separate lining to wrestle into place, no binding to make, and no exposed seams anywhere inside — every edge is sealed in a French seam. If you have never made a bag before, this is a wonderful first one. If you have made plenty, you'll appreciate how quickly it comes together.

The optional cuffed front pocket is turned rather than pressed, so it comes out crisp on all four edges, with a 2" cuff in your strap fabric that ties it back to the handles. The straps run the full height of the bag and get stitched down from the bottom edge up, which makes them considerably stronger than handles caught only at the top seam.

What's in the pattern

  • 31 numbered steps in seven clearly marked sections
  • 34 full-color process photographs — every step is illustrated
  • Complete cutting list and fabric requirements
  • Instructions for the optional cuffed pocket, which you can skip entirely
  • Tips throughout on quilting a large panel, using a walking foot guide bar, and keeping your pocket square
