Cartonnage is an amazing technique, and making your own fabric box is so much fun — plus it makes a unique handmade gift! This perfect small-box gift features a magnet closure, and it even fits inside your Singer Featherweight machine case, so you can personalize it and keep your notions handy far longer than the original paper boxes.

This DIY cartonnage kit comes with all the pre-cut paper (chipboard, poster board, and kraft paper) you need to make your own mini notions box with a magnet closure, as shown in the pictures. The finished box measures 5⅝" x 2¼" x 1¾" — great for sewing notions, but it also makes a beautiful gift box, jewelry box, and more. No worries about cutting paper boards! Fabric and other contents shown in the pictures are not included.

Online instructions are available: a clear PDF tutorial (eBook) with lots of step-by-step photos so there's no guessing. Inside the kit you'll find the password and easy directions to download the instructions. A video tutorial is also available on the Colorway Arts website.

To make the box you'll need this kit, two coordinating fabrics (1 fat quarter each), Elmer's Glue-All, a rotary cutter, cutting mat, a small paint roller with tray, a paint brush, masking tape, and a craft knife. Cartonnage tools (spatula, acrylic spacers, and corner tool) are recommended for the best finish — find them in the tools section of the shop.
