Introducing TenSisters EasyPiecing Grid

There's a new buzz in the hive, and we can't wait to share it with you! The Quilting Bea now carries the TenSisters EasyPiecing Grid — a lightweight, printed fusible foundation that lets you piece hundreds of tiny squares with perfectly nested corners, no pins and no tears (of either kind). If you've ever admired a postage stamp quilt, a watercolor quilt, or a pixel-style design but thought "who has the patience for all those seams?" — this one's for you!

Even sweeter: TenSisters offers a whole library of free printable instructions, sizing charts, and quilt-planning grids. We've gathered them all right here in one handy hive so you can plan, print, and start stitching.

What Is the EasyPiecing Grid?

The EasyPiecing Grid is a printed fusible interfacing, made in the USA. Instead of sewing tiny squares together one seam at a time, you lay your fabric squares on the printed grid, press to fuse them in place, then fold and sew along the printed lines — first the columns, then the rows. The result? Crisp, perfectly matched intersections every single time, even at 1/2" finished squares. The interfacing is featherweight, so it doesn't add bulk and quilts up beautifully.

Each standard panel holds 9 squares across by 14 squares down (126 squares per panel), and panels join together seamlessly — so you can make anything from a mug rug to a bed-sized beauty.

The Three Types of Panels (and Which One You Need)

1. Standard Grid Panels

The workhorse of the bunch! Standard panels come in 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", and 2" finished square sizes. These are what you'll use for pixel quilts, postage stamp quilts, and any design built on a straight grid of squares.

2. Border Panels

Border panels put your squares on a strip layout — perfect for pieced quilt borders, row quilts, and designs like the classic Boston Commons. They come in sizes to match your grid panels, so borders and centers play nicely together.

3. On-Point Border Panels

Want that gorgeous diamond, set-on-point look without wrestling a single bias edge? On-point border panels rotate the squares 45 degrees for you. All the drama, none of the stretching.

How Many Panels Do I Need?

Great question — and there's a chart for that! The Panel Sizing Chart shows you exactly how many panels it takes to reach your desired quilt size in each square size. Print it and tuck it in your project bag (or bring it into the shop and we'll help you count it out).

As a quick guide: a 6-panel pack of 1" grids makes a 27" x 28" top before borders, and a 20-panel pack of 1-1/2" grids makes a generous 67.5" x 84" top — plenty of room to grow into borders and bindings.

Plan Your Own Quilt with Blank Layout Grids

Here's where the real fun begins. These blank layout grids match the panels square-for-square, so you can color in your own design with pencils or markers before you cut a single piece of fabric. Doodle a design from your scrap bins, chart out a favorite photo in pixels, or plan a color-wash gradient — the grid is your garden.
